The Austrian cement market expanded by four per cent to 4.6Mt in 2015 and generated a turnover of EUR388m. Exports rose 15 per cent to 446,000t while imports fell 11 per cent to 832,600t. A TEC Group under new management

Following the retirement of Hans Joachim Grieb, the ATEC Group comes under new management in April. Management tasks are being handed over to Wolfgang Hammer and Dr Stefan Kern. Wolfgang Hammer, currently global sales manager, will be the new managing director. Dr Stefan Kern has been appointed his deputy. Presently he is responsible for the markets of northern Europe, eastern Europe and South Africa.

Cemex announced yesterday that it has closed the sale of operations in Austria and Hungary to the Rohrdorfer Group for approximately EUR160.1m. The transaction was originally announced on 12 August 2015. Indocement is to cease production at three older lines it its Citeureup works in Indonesia. The production lines to be closed are P1, P2 and P6. The agreement between Buzzi Unicem and Wietersdorfer of Austria has been finalised and comes into force on 1 August. Buzzi Unicem acquires a 25 per cent interest the largest Slovenian cement producer Salonit Anhovo and in w&p Cementi in Italy.
