A fire broke out at Lafarge Zementwerke’s Mannersdorf cement plant in Austria at around 19h on Sunday, 7 June 2020. According to the company, the starting point was the fuel store and the fire spread to a conveyor system. However, the cause of the fire is not yet known. Austrian production rises 7% in 2018

Total cement production in Austria rose 7.4 per cent YoY to 5.2Mt in 2018, according to data from the Austrian Cement Industry Association (VÖZ). Annual revenue increased 4.7 per cent to EUR431.5m. In the current year, the country posted a strong performance in cement sales during the first quarter, but this decreased to a moderate level in the 2Q19.
