Bangladesh's clinker imports have been growing in the last five years, apart from in FY15-16, According to the Economic Survey of Bangladesh 2018. The country's cement producers imported US$615m of clinker in FY13-14, which rose to US$766m in last fiscal year of 2017-18. Vietnamese exports have risen 15.2 per cent in volume and 36.3 per cent in value for February 2019, rising to around 2.5Mt and US$105m, respectively. The average export price has increased 18.3 per cent YoY to US$42/t, according to the country’s Foreign Trade Agency. Bangladesh's cement industry recorded a fall of 15.27 per cent in export revenue to US$6.55m during the first seven months of FY18-19 (July-January, 2019) compared to US$7.73m, earned in the same months last year, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Clinker damaged on route to Meghnaghat plant

The MV Haji Abdul Jalil, a vessel carrying 850t of clinker, has anchored near Chandpur Launch Terminal after a crack developed on its keel on the Meghna river. Most of the cement clinker has been damaged, reports Mohammad Asad who is in charge of the vessel. The MV Haji Abdul Jalil had to anchor near the terminal on its journey from Holudiya in India. The ship was originally heading for Narayanganj and LafargeHolcim Cement's Meghnaghat plant.
