Cemex announces plan to address US cement shortage

Cemex has announced plans to optimise its supply chain to address cement shortages experienced throughout the western US. The project will leverage the company’s supply chain synergies in North America to alleviate cement shortages and project delays in California, Arizona and Nevada, according to a press release. Cemex supplies largest maintenance airport in Europe

Cemex is supplying cement and concrete for the Teruel Airport Platform, the largest maintenance, repair and operations airport in Europe. Cemex has supplied 30,000t of cement required to produce 100,000Mm 3 of concrete to build two new hangars, the expansion of the parking arae, a runway of around 3km and industrial zone, terminals, amongst other facilities for the Spanish airport.

Caribbean Cement Company (TCL/Cemex group) says it reached a new record in 2020 by manufacturing more than 940,000t of cement in response to market demand in Jamaica.  "The market responded opposite to what might have been expected given the pandemic. Cemex announces pricing of US$1.75bn senior secured notes

Cemex SAB de CV announced the price of US$1.75bn of its 3.875 per cent senior secured notes due in 2031 and denominated in US dollars. The notes have a semi-annual interest rate of 3.875 per cent and mature on 11 July 2031. The notes are to be issued on 12 January 2021, subject to customary closing conditions. Cemex intends to use the proceeds of the offering for general corporate purposes.

Two men badly injured at Arawak Cement

Two men sustained burns during an industrial accident at the Arawak Cement plant in St Lucy, Barbados, early Sunday morning. Plant attendant Brian Moore reportedly has burns about 90 per cent of his body and is listed as gravely/critically injured. Process supervisor Vincent Ellis remains at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) with burns to both hands and feet.
