Yamama sees 9% dip in 1H profits

Yamama Cement Co of Saudi Arabia saw its net profit after zakat and tax decline by 9.2 per cent YoY to SAR120.1m (US$32m) in the 1H22 from SAR 132.55m in the 1H21. Sales expanded by 12.5 per cent YoY to SAR430.86m in the 1H22 from SAR382.83m in the year-ago period. In the second quarter of 2022, net profits were up by 16.8 per cent YoY to SAR90.69m from SAR77.68m in the 2Q21. Sales increased by 3.3 per cent to SAR209.28m from SAR202.57m in the 2Q21.

Iranian cement market remains stable

Cement demand in Iran reached 5.8Mt in June 2022, edging up slightly when compared with 5.78Mt of cement sold in June 2021. Iranian cement plants produced 6.6Mt of clinker and 5.58Mt of cement in June 2022. Clinker output slipped by 2.2 per cent from 0.63Mt in June 2021 while cement output declined by 7.3 per cent YoY. Iranian cement sales decline in May

The Iranian cement market contracted 11.6 per cent YoY to 5.11Mt in May 2022 from 5.78Mt in May 2021, according to the Iranian cement association. In addition to domestic deliveries, 0.301Mt of cement and 0.558Mt of clinker was exported in May 2022. Misr Cement (Qena) approves operations and maintenance programme

The board of directors of Misr Cement (Qena) have approved the operations and maintenance of the company’s factory, according to a filing to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX). The factory was managed by Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC) under an agreement that ends ion 30 June 2022.   On 16 May Misr Cement (Qena) reported a 106 per cent YoY increase in consolidated profit attributable to controlling shareholders during the 1Q22, recording EGP59.631m (US$3.18m).

Arabian Cement Co reports that it has received a Jeddah commercial court order in its favour, ordering Emaar The Economic City to supply to the company 4.57Mt of limestone based on the agreement signed by the two parties on 28 April 2012. Libya’s state Al-Ahlia Cement company ( National Cement Co Group ) is offering a tender to restart its lime factory in the Souq Al-Khamis complex. Saudi Arabia’s Najran Cement Co has obtained Sharia-compliant financing of SAR328.5m (US$87.6m) from Al Rajhi Bank. The loan will be repaid within seven years in semi-annual instalments with a six-month grace period, according to a bourse filing on 31 May. The port company of Skikda in Algeria has exceeded its annual clinker export target set at 274,907t, by exporting more than 325,000t in the first four months of the year, according to Abdelmalek Hamidecha, the company's communication and information officer.
