Buzzi SpA sees 1H23 volumes decline in Europe

Buzzi SpA reported cement volumes declining across much of western Europe in the 1H23, while the USA saw volumes rise significantly. Buzzi Unicem posts 1Q23 consolidated net sales of EUR955.9m

Consolidated net sales for Buzzi Unicem in the 1Q23 reached EUR955.9m, a rise of 19.5 per cent compared to EUR8000.1m the 1Q22. Kyrgyzstan production up 7% in 2022

The Kyrgyz cement industry produced 2.666Mt of cement in 2022, according to the Eurasian Economic Commission. This represents a YoY increase of 7.1 per cent. Kazakhstan’s cement output reached 12.088Mt while in Russia cement plants produced 60.667Mt. Armenia’s cement output was over 1Mt, up by 17.7 per cent YoY.

Eurocement becomes Cemros

Eurocement has changed its name to Cemros. The rebranding is aimed at renewing the company on a new stage of development since its acquisition by Smikom in 2021 for around US$2.2bn, following an auction held by Sberbank. An internal staff competition was held to find a new company name before a vote from a shortlist. Cemros invokes the words ‘cement’ and ‘Russia’ and was suggested by Eurocement employees, Evgeny Lukanovsky, Alexey Lotarev and Igor Efimov.  

Buzzi Unicem posts 16% rise in consolidated net sales in FY22

Buzzi Unicem reports consolidated net sales at EUR3996m in FY22, up 16 per cent from EUR3446m in FY2021, also on LfL basis a rise of 9.6 per cent. Cement sales in Brazil and Russia helped the multinationals improved performance.  Cement sales of the group amounted to 28.3Mt, decreasing by 9.2 per cent compared to 31.2Mt in 2021.
