Domestic cement dispatches in Vietnam slipped one per cent MoM and four per cent YoY to 5.590Mt in June 2022, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). PT Cemindo Gemilang barge breaks and spills clinker

A barge loaded with clinker has been severely damaged in the middle at the wharf of a cement factory owned by PT Cemindo Gemilang located in Bayah district, Lebak regency, Banten, Indonesia. Taiwan Cement and Chia Hsin see June revenue increase

Taiwan Cement Corp reported a 7.8 per cent increase in revenue to TWD9145.989m (US$306.5m) in June 2022 from TWD8480.821m in June 2021. However, in the first half of 2022 the company’s revenue slipped 3.8 per cent to TWD48,144.732m from TWD50,023.365m. Chia Hsin Cement’ s revenue increased 8.5 per cent to TWD183.177m in June 2022 from TWD168.756m in June 2021. In the first six months of 2022 Chia Hsin’s revenue slipped from 1094.913m in the 6M21 to TWD1027.363m.

Thai cement demand up 11% in May

Domestic sales of Portland cement in Thailand increased 10.9 per cent MoM to 2Mt in May 2022 but when compared with May 2021, sales were down 16 per cent, according the Office of Industrial Economics. Siam Cement plant catches on fire

PT Siam Cement Group ( SCG) factory on Jalan Palabuhan II, Sukabumi Regency, Thailand, has caught fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known. A number of vehicles and firefighters entered the factory area to extinguish the fire. There were no casualties in the incident. The President Director of PT Semen Jawa and PT Tambang Semen Sukabumi, Somchai Dumrongsil, confirmed the fire outbreak.

FLS has won an order for an undisclosed Asian greenfield cement plant. The order is valued at more than DKK400m (US$55.8m) and has been booked in 2Q22. The equipment will be supplied during 2023. Dai Duong Lines 3 and 4 under review

Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction has proposed Thanh Hoa’s provincial authority to review the construction of Lines 3 and 4 of Dai Duong JSC to avoid a glut in supply, according to local media. The approval of the new lines will raise the country’s cement capacity to 150Mta by 2025, surpassing the government target. Cement sales in Vietnam declined by eight per cent YoY and by five per cent MoM to 5,655,119t in May 2022, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total VICEM saw its sales contract by two per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 1,967,271t.
