Masaveu has doubled its export shipments to the USA from its Tudela Veguín plant in Spain in 2019. The US is now the third-largest market for the cement producer, representing an export volume of 118,673t in 2019, compared to 50,061t in the previous year. Spanish cement consumption declined 8.6 per cent in January 2020 to 1,035,484t when compared with the year-ago period. The latest fall represents the third-consecutive month of decreases, not seen since the last quarter of 2016, according to Oficemen. Demand for cement in Spain increased 5.9 per cent YoY to 14.254Mt in 2019, according to the Spanish cement association, Oficemen. Cemex's closed cement plant in Lloseta, in Mallorca, Spain, has been passed by the Balearic Environment Commission to be adapted into an aggregates plant. The Port Authority of Gijón granted Cemex a 30-year concession of 2477.72m 2 of land at the Olano Pier in the port of El Musel, Spain. Cement consumption in Spain fell 4.4 per cent YoY to 1.104Mt in November, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. In the year to date, demand has reached 13,321Mt. Malaga Port has ended the year having exported in excess of 230,000t of clinker. Spanish cement producer Cementos Molins has signed a EUR180m green loan to refinance all of its domestic debt and extend its maturity by five years. The agreement includes one EUR40m loan and a EUR140m revolving credit facility, of which EUR50m are already available with the balance to be used for future projects. Cementos Tudela Veguin has inaugurated its new terminal at El Musel, Gijón, Spain. The new terminal will enable the company to receive and store cement in a 4500m 2 warehouse. Cement consumption in Spain increased by three per cent to 1.3Mt in October when compared with October 2018. The rise has been attributed to an increase in housing construction. In the first 10 months of the year demand increased by eight per cent.
