Cement consumption in Ukraine increased 17% in 2023

Cement consumption in Ukraine rose by 17 per cent last year, up 5.4Mt compared to 2022, says Pablo Kachur, head of the country's cement association, Ukrcement Association. “A similar jump is not predicted this year, but we will probably get 6Mt of domestic cement consumption,” said the representative. Polish cement producers voice concern over Ukraine imports

The Association of Polish Cement Producers has raised concerns over the 350 per cent surge in cement imports from Ukraine. "The scale of imports from Ukraine is growing almost every month, reaching nearly 50 per cent of total imports in January 2024. Ukrainian cement production up 38% YoY in 11M23

Cement production in Ukraine came in at 5.8Mt in the first 11 months of 2023, according to Ukrcement. This marks a 38.2 per cent increase on the same period a year earlier. Ukraine ready to lift import duty on Moldova

Ukraine is ready to end its anti-dumping duty on cement from Moldova by the end of 2023, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation of Moldova. Buzzi SpA reported cement volumes declining across much of western Europe in the 1H23, while the USA saw volumes rise significantly. Buzzi SpA announced its 1H23 results reporting that consolidated EBITDA stood at EUR575.3m, up 57.6 per cent compared to EUR365.1m of the previous year. CRH invests EUR34m in Ukraine

Ireland’s CRH is investing EUR34m in a new cement shipping complex in Ukraine. Construction of the “main stage” of the project was completed in early July, according to The Sunday Independent. The complex will be able to receive, store and ship 450,000t of cement each year, and will feature an automated packaging and palletising line.

Consolidated net sales for Buzzi Unicem in the 1Q23 reached EUR955.9m, a rise of 19.5 per cent compared to EUR8000.1m the 1Q22.
