Kalambaina Cement sees successful start-up of Line 3 project

Cameroon minister accuses cement producers of price-fixing

HeidelbergCement has signed an agreement to sell its subsidiary Sierra Leone Cement Corp Ltd (Leocem) to the Diamond Cement Group. Nigeria’s BUA has signed an agreement with Wärtsilä for the delivery of a 70MW dual-fuel power plant for its Obu Line 3 project in Edo state. CIMAF will receive financial support from IFC, Proparco and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) to help its drive for capacity expansion to meet the growing demand for housing and infrastructure in west Africa. Dangote Cement records 34% rise in group revenue

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement has announced a 34.2 per cent YoY increase in group revenue to NGN1022bn (US$2.49bn) for the first nine months of the year, compared with NGN761.4bn in the year-ago period. BUA Cement records 23% increase in profit

Nigeria’s BUA Cement has reported a 23.2 per cent increase in profit after tax to NGN65.91bn (US$160.54m) in the first nine months of the year, compared with NGN53.5bn seen in the 9M20. Revenue for the period also increased 19.4 per cent YoY to NGN186.9bn from NGN156.5bn. EBITDA advanced 14.8 per cent YoY in the third quarter of 2021, as the revenue increase accounted for a rise in the cost of sales.

Cimtogo raises price due to input price pressures

HeidelbergCement subsidiary Cimtogo will increase its cement price by XOF6000/t (US$10.60), according to Republic of Togo. “This adjustment became necessary following a 250 per cent increase in fuels for the Scan Togo plant and an increase of more than US$35 per tonne in sea freight on gypsum and coal. In the current international context, it is no longer possible to maintain the old prices,” explained Eric Goulignac, CEO of Cimtogo on Saturday.
