Eagle Materials Inc shareholder Sachem Head Capital Management LP is nominating two people to Eagle Materials’ board, saying the company needs “new voices”. Saudi Arabia-based Tabuk Cement Co has appointed Saud Suliman Al Juhani as the new chairman of the board, effective 14 April 2019. He replaces Dr Saeed Obaid who stepped down from the post due to other business commitments, said the company in a filing to the Saudi bourse, Tadawul. The company board also appointed Khalid Al Angari as the new vice chairman. The current board term ends on 25 January 2020.

Lafargeholcim Maroc has appointed Ali Fassi Fihri, former chief executive of the National Office for Drininking Water and Electricity (ONEE), to chairman of the board. Mr Fihri, who was dismissed from ONEE by King Mohammed VI in October 2017, now replaces Tarafa Maraouane, who resigned from his position.

Former INC president to head Cementos Concepción

The former president of Paraguayan state-run cement producer Industria Nacional del Cemento, Jorge Mendez, will be leading the new cement company Cementos Concepción, according to Esmerk Latin American News. The new 1Mta cement plant , announced earlier this week, is expected to come online in 2021. Equipment for the facility will be supplied by Denmark-based FLSmidth. When operational, the unit will produce two types of cement – for small and large construction projects.
