Chile’s cement sales up 6% in May

Cement dispatches in Chile slipped 0.9 per cent MoM to 345,001t in May 2019, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). However, this represents a YoY increase of 6.4 per cent to 324,236t.  In the first five months of 2019, total dispatches increased 7.9 per cent to 1.773Mt when compared with 5M18 when dispatches were 1.643Mt.

Cement consumption in Spain increased 6.6 per cent YoY in May, reaching 1,333,698t, according to Oficemen. The Peruvian cement market expanded by 4.1 per cent YoY to 0.914Mt in June, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, MoM demand fell by 4.8 per cent. Cement sales in Morocco increased 4.1 per cent to 815,842t in June 2019 YoY, according to the Association professionelle des cimentiers (APC). In the first half of the year, domestic cement demand has advanced 2.1 per cent to 6.57Mt when compared with the 1H18. Deliveries for the building sector expanded most rapidly by 37.4 per cent in the first six months.

Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has sold 780,315t of cement in the first half of 2019, an increase of six per cent YoY from 738,228t in the year-ago period. The revenue from the sale of cement has surged 34 per cent to KZT14bn (US$36.6m) from KZT10.5bn. Swiss cement deliveries fall to 1.176Mt in 2Q19

Cement deliveries in Switzerland declined 3.6 per cent in the 2Q19 when compared to the 2Q18, according to Cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. Sales in the April-June quarter 2019 came in at 1.176Mt. In the 2Q18 cement sales reached 1.22Mt. In the first quarter sales increased 4.8 per cent YoY to 0.874Mt and when compared with the 1H18, total cement sales in the first half of 2019 have slipped by 0.2 per cent.
