Indonesian market stable, export sales see hike in September

Cement consumption in Indonesia remained largely stable at 6,728,921t in September 2019 when compared with September 2018, according to the latest data by the country’s cement association, ASI. Demand in the key market of Java remained level at 3,841,656t with higher sales on West Java (1,141,159t, up 9.6 per cent) and Yogyjakarta (119,297t, up nine per cent) offset falling deliveries in Jakarta, Banta and Central Java. Re-Gen Waste expands alternative fuel facility

Ireland-based Re-Gen Waste has invested GBP5m to develop its alternative fuel production facility at Carnbane industrial estate, Newry. The expanded facility is expected to reach full production by next month. The company already exports 80,000tpa of solid recovered fuel (SRF) but will now manufacture higher calorific value pellets and baled material for the cement and steel industries. Cement consumption in Spain has increased 2.6 per cent YoY to 1,162,861t in September 2019, according to Oficemen, the Spanish cement association. However, Imports surged 87.5 per cent YoY to 50,000t. Demand in the first nine months of 2019 has advanced by 8.5 per cent YoY to close to 11Mt. However, exports have continued to fall. Tajikistan produces 3.1Mt of cement in the 9M19

In January-September 2019, Tajikistan produced construction materials worth TJS2bn (US$207m), an increase of TJS257.5m compared to the 9M18, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan. During the first nine months of the year, the country produced 3.1Mt of cement. Cement exports during the period reached 1.2Mt, representing a value of US$51.4m. This includes 725,600t to Uzbekistan, 427,400t to Afghanistan and 58,500t to Kyrgyzstan.

Peru’s cement consumption increased 6.5 per cent to 1.035Mt in September 2019 when compared with September 2018, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. This included 1.02Mt supplied by domestic producers. Cement production increased 7.4 per cent to 943,000t when compared with September 2018 and 0.8 per cent MoM. Al Jouf Cement renews export licence

A company statement for Al Jouf Cement of Saudi Arabia stated that the company has received its renewed cement export licence as well as a new clinker export licence on 15 october 2019. Both licences are active immediately. Al Jouf Cement received its first cement export licence in February 2017.

A consignment of 2500t of cement was exported by Qesh cement plant, Hormozgan, Iran, to Somalia, according to Hormuz Amiri, head of development and trade at Qeshm Free Trade Zone. Aggregate cement sales of 17 producers in Saudi Arabia reported an overall average increase to 3.71Mt in September 2019, up 17.27 per cent compared to 3.16Mt in September 2018.
