Cementir's preliminary 2020 consolidated results achieve revenues of EUR1224.8m

Cementir's preliminary consolidated results for 2020 achieved record revenue from sales of EUR1224.8m, up 1.1 per cent from EUR1211.8m in 2019. EBITDA remained stable at EUR263.7m. UK construction demand for essential mineral products increases in 4Q20

Recovery in the UK market for mineral products like aggregates, concrete, asphalt and mortar was sustained during the 4Q20, but full-year sales volumes were down on 2019. HGH has promoted Vincent Leboucher to President of the HGH Group. Current President, Thierry Campos, retires from the business after 32 years at HGH.  Vincent Leboucher, 40, graduated from the Institut d'Optique Graduate School in 2002 and joined HGH in 2003 as an electro-optics engineer. LafargeHolcim to close Contes cement line

LafargeHolcim will shut down cement production at its Contes plant in the Alpes-Maritimes region of France. Aggregate production at the site will not be affected by the reorganisation. A reorganisation plant was presented to the company’s social partners on 3 February. It is expected that 65 direct job and approximately 300 indirect jobs will be impacted by the closure is scheduled for the start of 2022.

Semapa sees 182% rise in 4Q20 net profit

Portugal-based Semapa recorded a net profit of EUR106.6m in 2020, a 14.1 per cent YoY decrease from EUR124.1m a year earlier. In the 4Q20, net income surged 182.3 per cent YoY to EUR33.8m. Consolidated turnover was down 16.2 per cent YoY to EUR1867m in 2020, of which EUR451m came from its cement segment. EBITDA reached EUR419.3m, falling 13.9 per cent from EUR486.8m in 2019, despite the group's positive developments in cement, which grew 15.3 per cent YoY, especially in Portugal.

Cement consumption in Spanish has declined by 9.7 per cent to 13.288Mt in 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Oficemen.
