The EU Innovation Fund has chosen to co-finance Heracles Group ’s ( Holcim ) Olympus CO 2  capture project. The Olympus project aims to transform Heracles Group’s plant in Milaki , Greece, into a zero carbon cement plant through the use of innovative carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. Cement imports by France tumble 25% in August

August 2023 saw France import 227,000t of cement, marking a 24.9 per cent decline MoM and the second month in a row that imports have contracted following two months of growth. According to IndexBox, the main suppliers were Belgium (68,000t), Spain (42,000t) and Vietnam (24,000t), collectively accounting for 59 per cent of imports in August. Swiss team draws on archives to develop low-carbon binders

A team of experts from EPFL (Switzerland), ETH Zurich and a Geneva-based architecture firm has developed a new type of non-reinforced concrete made from stone offcuts.
