Algerian cement exports increase 239% in 11M19

The value of Algerian cement and clinker exports has surged 239.2 per cent to US$59.24m in the 11M19, compared with US$17.47m in the year-ago period, according to the Customs’ Surveys and Prospects Department (DEPD). Saïd Djellab, former trade minister, had said in November that cement export revenues were expected to reach US$60m in late 2019, however, these figures are now expected to require adjustment considering the pace of development.

Algeria's Minister of Industry and Mines has set a 6Mt target for the cement industry to export in 2020. The country only began cement exports in 2017. Algerian cement exports surge to US$42m

Cement exports from Algeria reached US$42.41m between January-July 2019, more than septupling YoY, according to the Algerian customs service. Exports of hydraulic cement and clinker rose from US$5.03m in the 7M18. Hamma Bouziane achieves 95% production target

GICA-owned Société des Ciments de Hamma Bouziane (SCHB) in Constantine, Algeria, has achieved “up to 95 per cent of its production target” for 2019. Sigus Cement to start national distribution

Sigus Cement’s plant in d’OUm El Bouaghi, Algeria, has launched its grey cement onto the national market, according to its Managing Director, Fawzi Bachiri. The cement company started production at the 2.2Mta works in the first quarter of 2019, following a DZD51bn (US$426.8m) investment and 31 months to project completion. The new supply of cement will accelerate the completion of construction projects as well as provide jobs for 450 permanent and 2000 temporary workers.
