LafargeHolcim has announced the appointment of Bogdan Dobre as its new CEO for Romania and country head for Moldova effective from 1 January   2021. Magnum Group seeks to increase production

Angarskiy Cement Co begins work to improve energy supply

Russia’s Angarskiy Cement Co, part of Siberian Cement Co, has begun works to improve its energy supply. As such, it has started the construction of a 335m cable overpass from its Tsemzavod substation to a transformer substation. Turkey cement exports reach US$1bn in 2020

Turkey has exported nearly US$1bn of cement in 2020, amounting to 30Mt, according to Tamer Saka, the chairman of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMB). Georgia manufactured 1.06Mt of cement worth GEL152m (US$46.2m) in January-June 2020, down 6.2 per cent YoY from 1.13Mt in the year-ago period, according to GBC News. The country also imported 570,000t of cement in the first nine months of 2020.

Uzbekistan sees 3% rise in production

Uzbekistan produced 8.8Mt of cement in the first 10 months of the 2020, up 2.6 per cent compared to the year-ago period. The largest volumes of cement were produced in the Tashkent region (46.7 per cent), followed by Navoi region (35.1 per cent) and Fergana region (12.8 per cent). The value of cement exported from Uzbekistan in the January-October period amounted to US$27.6m. Meanwhile, the value of cement imports reached US$105.5m.

Azerbaijan records modest fall in cement production

Azerbaijan produced building materials worth AZN614.7m (US$361.6m) between January-October 2020, up 26.4 per cent YoY, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee. Cement production fell 1.2 per cent YoY to 2.8Mt, while production of ready-mixed concrete grew 5.1 per cent to 1.57Mt. Most of the construction work during the first 10 months of the year accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion work.
