Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) plans to ship several batches of cement to Afghanistan by the end of the year, after signing a number of supply contracts in July. Nepal's cement producers are demanding that the government supports them in attempts to find export markets for cement and clinker as overcapacity in Nepal is expected to rise steeply in the next few years. Brazilian cement sales increased 8.1 per cent YoY to 4.953Mt in July 2019, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. The market expanded most in the south, advancing by 11.2 per cent to 827,000t, followed by the central-west by 10.9 per cent to 579,000t. Total cement consumption in Argentina in July 2019 increased 5.1 per cent YoY to 1,000,711t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The market requirement was entirely supplied by domestic plants, unlike in July 2018 when 2540t of cement was imported. Vietnamese cement companies sold 7.497Mt of cement in June 2019, down four per cent YoY and 12 per cent MoM, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). After two-years of freezing cement and steel export fees, Saudi Arabia will begin levying fees on cement leaving the country in a bid to prop up falling oil revenues. Bangladesh's cement industry has recorded a fall of 17.3 per cent in export revenue to US$10.41m between July 2018 and June 2019, compared to US$12.59m of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau.
