Pakistan earns mixed revenue in 4MFY20

Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$94.41m by exporting 2.368Mt of cement and clinker between July and October 2019, compared to US$104.34m from exporting 2.411Mt of cement/clinker in same months last year, says the country's Federal Bureau of Statistics. Indonesian cement market expands 2% in October

Indonesia saw cement demand advance by 1.9 per cent YoY to 7,326,461t in October 2019 from 7,187,897t in October 2018, as reported by Semen Indonesia. Market expansion was largest in Sulawesi where volumes were up by 18.5 per cent to 661,453t YoY while Nusa Tenggara reported a 13.2 per cent increase in sales to 444,057t in October 2019. Algeria targets 6Mt of cement exports in 2020

Algeria's Minister of Industry and Mines has set a 6Mt target for the cement industry to export in 2020. The country only began cement exports in 2017. Mr Djamila Tamazirt, Minister of Industry and Mines, said Algeria had reached a production capacity of around 32Mta during 2017 and is expected to exceed 40Mt in 2020, once several plants come online. Lebap Cement Factory exports 0.24Mta

Turkmenistan-based Lebap Cement Factory, owned by Polimeks Insaat, exported around 0.24Mta of cement, or 32.5 per cent of its production, in the first 10 months of 2019, according to Business Turkmenistan. The 1.4Mta cement plant also achieved an output of 0.739Mt, valued at over TMT109m, between January-October 2019. It produces sulphate-resistant M-400 and M-500 cement. Last year, it produced more than 0.935Mt of cement.

Brazilian sales up 9% in October

Cement sales in Brazil totalled 5.2Mt in October 2019, representing a 9.2 per cent increase when compared with October 2018, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Argentine cement consumption fell 8.8 per cent YoY to 948,930t in October 2019, from 1,040,317t in October 2018, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Azerbaijan’s Gazakh cement plant exported about 253,000t of clinker to Georgia in January-August 2019, according to Turan. The average export value of Azerbaijani clinker to Georgia has amounted to US$37.48/t so far this year. Total Vietnamese cement sales reached 8.196Mt in September 2019, up two per cent YoY and one per cent MoM, according to the latest data by the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA).
