Dominican Republic exports US$72.3m of cement in 2018

The Dominican Republic exported Portland cement to the value of US$72.3m in 2018, according to the country’s Director of General Direction of Mining, Alexander Medina Herasme. The country produces cement in four clinker and two grinding plants with a combined capacity of 7.15Mt. It is the Caribbean’s largest cement and clinker exporter, accounting for around two-thirds of the region’s cement exports.

Pakistan FY19 may end on mixed results

Pakistani research house Insight Securities forecasts that in FY18-19 (July 2018-June 2019), domestic sales will fall 5.6 per cent to 38.8Mt (-10.2 per cent in the north but a rise of +16.3 per cent in the south). Vietnamese market contracts 13%, but exports rise in April

Vietnamese cement sales fell by 13 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 6,316,583t in April 2019, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total VICEM plants sold 2.158Mt, or three per cent less when compared with April 2018. Sales were down eight per cent from 2.338Mt in March 2019. Cement production in Senegal sees 10% drop in March

By end March 2019, cement production in Senegal fell by 9.9 per cent, or 65,000t, when compared with March 2018, according to data by cement plants quoted by Journal du Cameroun. Output declined to 590,700t in March 2019 from 655,700t in the same period the year before. Export sales decreased by 28.4 per cent YoY to 140,100t from 195,800t in March 2018. Meanwhile, domestic sales edged up by 0.1 per cent to 458,800t (March 2018: 458,300t).

Bangladesh records a 20% fall in export revenue

Bangladesh's cement industry has recorded a 20.4 per cent decline in export revenue to US$8.82m during the 10MFY18-19, compared to US$11.08m of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. Uzbekistan blocks export of cement from Kyrgyzstan, MP Azamat Arapbaev said at the meeting of the Kyrgyz parliamentary committee of economic and fiscal policy, according to Central Asia News. Pakistan’s cement export revenue for the first 10 months of the current fiscal observed a YoY growth of 30.9 per cent and 52.3 per cent in terms of dollar value and quantity, respectively, according to Pakistan's Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Spanish cement consumption increased 8.7 per cent YoY in March 2019, according to Oficemen, the domestic cement association.
