NTPC begins the bulk supply of fly ash from new unit

NTPC, India’s largest energy conglomerate, has begun the bulk supply of fly ash to cement plants from its new Rihand project in Uttar Pradesh. "NTPC Ltd has developed an infrastructure at Rihand project in Uttar Pradesh to transport fly ash in bulk to cement plants, located at distance, at a cheaper cost," said a company statement. The development is in line with the company’s commitment towards 100 per cent utilisation of fly ash from power plants.

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co plans grinding facility

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co is planning a cement grinding unit at its Satpura Thermal Power Station in Sarni, Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, India. The company will offer a maximum of 4.25ha of land near its thermal power plant on payment of lease charges for 30 years and 0.25Mt of dry fly ash will be supplied free-of-cost basis during this period. The project team is currently evaluating tenders.

Cement companies purchased 0.3Mt of fly ash from Endesa power station

UK and North American cement companies as well as the nearby LafargeHolcim plant have bought some 0.3Mt of fly ash from the Endesa power station in Carboneras, Spain, in 2018. The fly ash is shipped to overseas customers from the port of Endesa Pucarsa. In addition, Endesa has also sold 30,000t of slag and 60,000t of gypsum from its lime plant.

Fly ash transported through India's inland water highway

Project delivers fly ash to plants in northeast India

NTPC Ltd, India's largest power company, has begun transporting fly ash through inland waterways for use in cement manufacture. The pilot project sees the material delivered to Pandu, Assam, from the company's thermal power station in Kahalgaon, Bihar. Nepal’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has begun work to acquire land to improve transportation of imported clinker from India. Research undertaken to increase fly ash in cement
