Cement and clinker exports from Indonesia rose 15.4 per cent to 648,354t in November 2019, according to figures published by Semen Indonesia. In November 2018 exports totalled 561,950t. Cement exports fell 6.1 per cent YoY to 129,621t in November when compared with 138,079t in November 2018. However, the decline was offset by a 22.4 per cent rise in clinker exports. Cement sales in Indonesia increased 9.5 per cent in November to 7.088Mt in November 2019 when compared with November 2018, according to data supplied by Semen Indonesia. Sales in Java advanced 6.6 per cent to 3.873Mt from 3.633Mt in the previous year, buoyed by improved deliveries in West Java, which rose to 1.152Mt (+17.9 per cent). Indonesia saw cement demand advance by 1.9 per cent YoY to 7,326,461t in October 2019 from 7,187,897t in October 2018, as reported by Semen Indonesia. Market expansion was largest in Sulawesi where volumes were up by 18.5 per cent to 661,453t YoY while Nusa Tenggara reported a 13.2 per cent increase in sales to 444,057t in October 2019. Semen Indonesia Group, including SBI, reported a 40.8 per cent rise in sales volumes to 4,771,181t in October 2019 when compared with a volume of 3,388,174t in October 2018. Following its acquisition by PT Semen Indonesia, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI) has changed its Holcim cement brand to Dynamix in an effort to strengthen its position in an increasingly-competitive national market.
