Indonesia’s Environment and Forestry Ministry has asked four cement plants to burn untreated medical waste. In early April the ministry requested PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, PT Holcim Indonesia, PT Semen Padang and PT Cemindo Gemilang to burn the waste within six months. China-based Hongshi Holding Group Co Ltd is expected to award a contract to FLSmidth for the supply of mills, crushers and feeders for its 8000tpd plant in East Java, Indonesia. Indonesian cement producers see strong export sales

Cement producers in Indonesia reported a 79.2 per cent rise in cement exports to 121,917t in April and clinker exports more than tripled to 471,410t from 156,225t in April 2017, according to the Indonesian Cement Association. Semen Indonesia's export sales more than doubled in April to 279,945t from 118,401t in April 2017. Meanwhile, the company’s domestic cement sales remained largely stable in April at 2,116,468t. Indonesian cement consumption advanced six per cent YoY in April to 5.337Mt, according to the Indonesia Cement Association. Growth was particularly strong in Sumatra, where demand increased by 12.2 per cent. PT Semen Indonesia says it has fulfilled all of its operational requirements at its 3.3Mta Rembang cement plant, Central Java, since last March despite a series of protests by locals over environmental issues. Semen Indonesia sold 6.79Mt of cement in the first quarter of 2018, up four per cent YoY. Domestic sales accounted for 6.19Mt of this, marking a 1.3 per cent improvement YoY. Cement sales in Indonesia increased by 3.5 per cent YoY to 5,204,852t in March 2018 when compared with 5,027,799t recorded in the year-ago period, according to figures by the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). In February off-take in the domestic market advanced by 5.9 per cent YoY from 4,554,653t to 4,821,262t.
