Northern Cement Jordan to install new line

Saudi Arabia's Northern Cement Co said Thursday that Jordan-based Northern Cement-Jordan, in which it holds 99.35 per cent, has decided to install an additional clinker production line. In preparation for the expansion project, the company will carry out feasibility and environmental studies, the Saudi firm said, without disclosing any financial details. Northern Cement Co booked a net profit of SAR234.3m (USD$62.5m) in 2014, almost unchanged from SAR234.6m a year ago.

Listed Saudi firms see 3.8% increase in 2014 sales

Sales of the listed cement firms in Saudi Arabia grew by 3.8 per cent to hit SAR13.5bn (US$3.6bn) in 2014 compared to SAR13bn in 2013, according to a report published by Al-Hayat daily said. Net profits rose by 6.10 per cent in the year to SAR6.2bn compared to SAR5.83bn in the previous year, the report added. Kuwaiti cement producer Hilal Cement booked a net loss of KWD374,000 (US$1.3m) in 2014, versus a net profit of KWD518,500 a year earlier, the company said in a bourse statement. The loss per share stood at 5 fils, compared to earnings per share of 7 fils. Lafarge's final full year turnover and EBITDA in decline

Lafarge's turnover eased by 1.9 per cent to EUR12,843m in 2014 and the EBITDA came off 2.6 per cent to EUR2721m, having fallen by 9.4 per cent in 2013. Including share of associates, turnover eased by 0.2 per cent to EUR15,167m and the EBITDA by 0.4 per cent to EUR3091m. Iran output exceeds 50Mt in first nine months

Iran produced 51.645Mt of cement in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 December 2014), the IRNA news agency reported on Sunday. Moreover, 56.85Mt of clinker were produced over the period.  In the first six months, the country's exports reached 7Mt, according to the report.

Saudi monthly cement sales up 17% YoY

Saudi Arabian cement sales in December 2014 rose 17 per cent YoY to 5.59Mt from 4.79Mt in the same month of the year before, latest statistics published by domestic producer Yamama Cement Co reveal. Saudi Arabia's cement sales rose 39 per cent YoY to 5.09Mt in November 2014 from 3.65Mt in November 2013, according to statistics published by Saudi cement producer Yamama Cement Co.
