US and Puerto Rican market expands 3% in November

Total cement dispatches of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, picked up by 2.6 per cent YoY to 8.7Mt in November 2023, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Medcem announces terminal partnerships in UK

Turkey’s Medcem has announced a partnership with Brett Concrete, one of the largest independent concrete companies in the UK, to establish a terminal at Sheerness Port in Kent, UK. US-based Sublime Systems has been awarded US$6.7m from the Department of Energy Industrial Efficiency and Decabonization Office to advance its innovative electrolyser technology. US DoT announces funding for slag in cement research

The US Department of Transportation (DoT) has announced a US$5m funding opportunity for a research initiative on the use of steel slag in cement and concrete. CRH completes Hunter plant and Texan ready-mix acquisitions

CRH has completed the US$2.1bn acquisition of Martin Marietta Materials Inc in Texas, USA. The deal was first announced on 21 November 2023 and the combined assets are expected to generate a pro-forma EBITDA of around US$170m for 2023.   The acquisition includes the 2.1Mta Hunter cement plant, 20 ready-mix assets with a capacity of 1.6Mm 3 and a network of terminals along the Eastern Gulf Coast of Texas. 

PSCL wins Lafarge Canada Order

The Attended Plant Portal solution utilises loading management combined with check-in/out terminals to manage site traffic and streamline loading while increasing throughput. US-based  Eagle Materials has reported record revenue of US$558.8m in the third quarter of FY23-24 (3QFY24), ended 31 December 2023, marking a nine per cent increase YoY.
