CRH America has sold its Mallard Sand & Gravel operation in Omaha, Nebraska, to Martin Marietta Materials. The disposal was required as a result of the acquisition of Ash Grove Cement Company.

GCC 1H18 sales rise by 11.4%

Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) reports that its 1H18 sales increased 11.4 per cent to US398.8m, generating US$115m in EBITDA, up 22 per cent YoY. However, the company's net result slipped, registering a minor loss of US$0.6m. In the 2Q18, sales advanced 6.9 per cent to US$232.3m when compared with the 2Q17. Lehigh Hanson Speed plant earmarked to become distribution centre

The Lehigh Hanson Speed cement plant in Indiana is expected to cease production in about four years and become a distribution centre, following the completion of the modernisation at the Mitchell works . Cement shipments in USA-Puerto Rico up 9% YoY

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement (including imports) in the USA and Puerto Rico in April 2018 increased 8.9 per cent YoY to 8.2Mt, according to the latest data by the US Geological Survey (USGS).  The leading cement-consuming states were Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Ohio, which received some 44 per cent of total April shipments. CRH announces completion of Ash Grove acquisition

CHR has now completed the acquisition of Ash Grove Cement Co. The Irish building materials producer announced on 21 September 2017  it reached an agreement to acquire the Kansas-based cement company for US$3.5bn. The US Federal Trade Commission issued its consent order for the deal on 15 June 2018.

US Cement LLC has received a draft air permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a white cement plant near the town of Brady. Groundbreaking for the 0.5Mta facility, which sits on a limestone deposit of 80Mt, is scheduled for the first half of 2019.
