The Antimonopoly Committee of Uzbekistan intends to simplify the imports of cement. Uzbekistan resumes cement imports

Uzbekistan has resumed the import of cement after the goverment’s 22 May resolution, reports Central Asia News. On 23 April the country had temporarily suspended the import of cement due to the coronavirus pandemic. The measure was put in place to support domestic producers following a decline in demand as construction activity was halted.

Qizilqumsement reports 78% surge in net profit

Uzbekistan’s Qizilqumsement, the country’s largest producer, reported a 78.3 per cent increase in net profit to US$6.8m in the first quarter of 2020, according to Trend News. Net revenue advanced 16.7 per cent YoY to US$43.4m in the 1Q20, while gross profit was up 6.8 per cent to US$14.4m.

Namangan Cement launches construction of second line

Uzbekistan's Namangan Cement LLC has launched the construction of a second line at its facility in Namangan, Chust district. The company was founded in 2019 and produces 200,000tpa of cement from the first stage of production. After the second stage is commissioned, the facility’s capacity will rise to 1.1Mta. Eurocement has completed the installation of the rotary kiln housing at its 3Mta Akhangarancement project in Uzbekistan, according to a press release. Uzbekistan sees production fall 13% YoY in February

Uzbekistan’s Portland cement production fell 13 per cent YoY to 551,200t in February 2020, according to the country’s State Statistics Committee. In the first two months of the year, production was down 19.5 per cent to 1.02Mt when compared to the same period last year. The production of Portland cement in 2019 increased 15.9 per cent YoY to 9.68Mt, while imports declined by 6.8 per cent to 3.27Mt.
