Vietnam cement and clinker exports rise 36% in July

Vietnam has exported an estimated 3Mt of cement and clinker with a value of US$117m in July, according to the country’s General Statistics Office. This represents a rise of 35.5 per cent in volume and 30.2 per cent in value when compared with July 2019. In the first seven months of 2020 total cement and clinker exports stood at 19.46Mt, up 9.4 per cent YoY. Their value fell 3.4 per cent YoY to US$732m.

Cement consumption in Vietnam slips 3% YoY in May

Vietnamese cement demand fell by three per cent YoY to 5,680,883t in May 2020, according to the country’s cement association, VNCA. Sales by VICEM saw a two per cent decline to 1,975,476t while offtake from its associates decreased by eight per cent to 1,495,407t YoY. Vietnam’s cement market contracted 11 per cent YoY and 13 per cent MoM as domestic cement sales reached 5,664,973t in April 2020, according to the latest data from the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). China was the largest market for Vietnamese cement imports in the first quarter of 2020, importing 2.73Mt worth US$96.92m, according to the latest data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
