Breedon posts record revenue in 2023

Breedon Group has announced record revenue of GBP1487.5m (US$1893.5m) in 2023, up seven per cent from the GBP1396.3m seen in the previous year. EBIT over the same period declined two per cent from GBP148m to GBP145.7m, while profit before tax slipped one per cent from GBP135.8m to GBP134.4m. Italian cement slips in 2023 with moderate 2024 forecast

Italian cement output expanded eight per cent YoY in December 2023, according to the Italian concrete association, Federbeton. This was largely driven by robust demand from local public sector works, which totaled EUR18.1bn in the year to December. Leilac-2 moved to Ennigerloh plant

Calix has confirmed that the Leilac-2 carbon capture project, which was to be installed at Heidelberg Materials’ Hanover plant in Germany, will now be constructed at the cement producer’s Ennigerloh plant, also in Germany. Schwenk Zement GmbH & Co KG has commissioned thyssenkrupp Polysius to build a demonstration plant in Alllmendingen for the production of activated clay without calcination. Saint-Gobain has reported sales of EUR47,944m in 2023, down 6.4 per cent from EUR51,197m in the previous year. EBITDA over the same period declined 1.7 per cent from EUR7123m to EUR7001m, while consolidated net debt fell 10.2 per cent from EUR8232m to EUR7393m.
