Bestway Cement to appoint new directors

Bestway Cement Ltd of Pakistan has announced holding of extraordinary general meeting of the company on 5 December 2019 to elect eight directors for the next term of three years.   The new eight member’s team of directors would replace retiring directors namely, Mohammed Anwar Pervez, Muhammad Irfan Anwar Sheikh, Muhammed Younus Sheikh, Haider Zameer Choudhrey, Zameer Mohammed Choudhrey, Dawood Pervez, Njma Naheed Pirzada and Nazib Nazir.

CRH appointed Richard Boucher as chairman designate on 25 September 2019. He will succeed the present Chairman, Nicky Hartery, on 1 January 2020. Ms Tryposa Ramano will step down as chief financial officer and director of PPC with effect from 31 October 2019. After eight years with the company, Ms Ramano says she wishes to pursue personal interests. However, she will be taking on a consultancy role with PPC to ensure continuity. Ms Ronel van Dijk will act as interim CFO until a permanent CFO is appointed.

Tarique Kamal has recently joined Premier Cement Mills Ltd of Bangadesh as chief operating officer (COO) effective from 1 October 2019. He was previously head of sales and distribution at Arla Foods Bangladesh, according to a company statement.   He also worked at British American Tobacco Bangladesh. Crown Cement Group of Bangladesh has appointed Mukter Hossain Talukder as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Mr Talukder was previously the group's chief operating officer. Talukder also served Aman Group, Rangs Group and Social Marketing Company in key positions. He obtained a master's degree on accounting and information science from the University of Dhaka. He is also a fellow chartered accountant of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.

The World Cement Association (WCA) has appointed two new Joint Chairmen, Cui Xingtai of China United Cement Co (CUCC) and Vincent Lefebvre of Cem'In'EU. Mr Cui has been Chairmen of CUCC since 2005 and Vice President of CNBM since 2009. Mr Lefebvre has dual experience as an international group executive with Holcim and start-up founder of Cem'In'EU.

Spain’s cement association, Oficemen, has appointed Víctor García Brosa as its new president. Mr García Brosa is currently deputy general director of Cementos Portland’s managing board.
