Holcim Argentina acquires 51% stake in Quitam SA

Holcim Argentina has acquired a 51 per cent stake in paints and liquid membranes producer Quitam SA. According to Holcim, the move is “aligned with the Holcim Group strategy focused on expanding its portfolio with products and services that provide comprehensive solutions for construction.” The deal includes a paint and coatings factory with an installed production capacity of 40m litres per year. Argentina’s Loma Negra has reported a two per cent YoY increase in revenue in the 4Q22 to ARS36,763m (US$215m), mainly driven by a strong performance in the concrete and aggregates segments, which helped offset a fall in cement sales. Adjusted EBITDA came in at ARS13,173m, up 5.4 per cent YoY in adjusted pesos, or up 42.7 per cent in dollars at US$91m. The cement market in Argentina contracted by 4.5 per cent YoY and 6.5 per cent MoM to 895,938t in February 2023, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In February 2022 demand reached 938,072t while in January 2023 it stood at 958,230t. Argentina’s cement market expands 9% in January

Argentine cement demand increased by 9.2 per cent YoY and 2.7 per cent MoM to 957,958t in January 2023, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The market was entirely supplied by domestic producers, whose output, including export supply, expanded 8.9 per cent YoY and three per cent MoM to 965,361t. However, exports fell 15.8 per cent from 8793t in January 2022 to 7403t in January 2022.

Cement demand in Argentina fell by nine per cent to 932,661t in December 2022 from 1,144,123t in December 2021, reports the country’s cement association, AFCP. Argentina-based Loma Negra has posted a 4.2 per cent YoY rise in revenue to ARS33,942m (US$212m) in the 3Q22. Argentina’s cement market expanded 9.2 per cent YoY but contracted 1.1 per cent MoM to 1,212,814t in September 2022, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.
