Cement consumption in Argentina declined 7.8 per cent MoM to 874,187t in May 2021 but surged 34.8 per cent YoY from 648,543t in May 2020, according to AFCP, the national cement association. Semen Indonesia Group subsidiary PT Semen Padang increased its cement and clinker exports to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka by 30.5 per cent YoY to 208,806t in April 2021, up from 160,000t in April 2020. All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has reported considerable growth in domestic and export cement dispatches for May 2021 and the 11MFY21. Indonesia’s North Sulawesi province exported 63,046t of cement to Taiwan, the Philippines and Malaysia in May 2021, according to the North Sulawesi Industry and Trade Office. The value of exports totalled US$2.18m, with Malaysian exports representing US$1.1m from 32,496t alongside US$763,750 from 32,496t sent to Taiwan. Cement is a relatively new export from North Sulawesi and the Industry and Trade Office is reportedly on the look for new markets.

Pakistan records mixed export and production data

The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export and production data for the July 2020-April 2021 (10 months) and July 2020-March 2021 (nine months) periods. Cement exports from Senegal drop 35% in February

Exports of cement from Senegal declined 35.3 per cent MoM in February 2021, according to the country’s national statistics agency, ANSD. When compared with February 2020, exports decreased 32.4 per cent. Domestic sales fell by eight per cent MoM in February 2021 while output from Senegalese cement plants was down by 6.5 per cent in the same period. When compared with the equivalent month of 2020, sales and output improved by 12.5 and 3.1 per cent, respectively.

Spanish cement consumption advances 116% in April

The cement market in Spain has expanded by 116 per cent YoY to 1.239Mt in April 2021 while demand in the first four months of 2021 increased 24.5 per cent YoY to 4.617Mt, according to the country’s cement association, Oficemen.
