Peru’s cement consumption increased 9.1 per cent YoY to 983,000t in July 2019 when compared with the previous-year’s equivalent month, which saw demand at 901,000t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) plans to ship several batches of cement to Afghanistan by the end of the year, after signing a number of supply contracts in July. Total cement consumption in Argentina in July 2019 increased 5.1 per cent YoY to 1,000,711t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico fell to 9.3Mt in May 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has amended the decree on the ban of imports of Russian goods into the country, extending its operation until 31 December 2020, according to UkrInform The import of Portland, aluminous, slag and other similar hydraulic cements and clinkers is prohibited. The Peruvian cement market expanded by 4.1 per cent YoY to 0.914Mt in June, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, MoM demand fell by 4.8 per cent. Southern Cross Cement plans new terminal in Brisbane

Australia’s Southern Cross Cement, a joint venture between Brickworks, Neilsen Group and Neumann Group, has announced an AUD60m (US$42.19m) investment for a new cement terminal at the Port of Brisbane.
