Colombian cement market expands 10.3% in 2014

Colombian cement consumption increased by 10.3 per cent to 11.9Mt in 2014, according to the country’s statistics service, Dane. The restart of civil works and the start-up of social housing projects is behind the upturn. Major market expansion occurred in the provinces of Nariño (49.2 per cent), Norte de Santander (20.4 per cent), Huila (21.3 per cent) and Cundinamarca (17 per cent). Output from domestic cement plants also rose, by 10.2 per cent to 12.3Mt.

US Jan-Nov shipments

Paraguayan cement demand currently stands at around 115,000 bags of 50kg, according to local press sources. Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) produces around 50,000 bags/day while Yguazú’s output reaches around 45,000 bags/day. Uzbekistan: Ahangarancement full-year output rises

Ahangarancement, part of Eurocement Group, produced 1.24Mt of clinker and 1.7Mt of cement in 2014, a YoY increase of 6.2 per cent (72,500t) and five per cent (80,400t), respectively. The company said that its shipments rose by 6.5 per cent to 1.72Mt in 2014, (+105,300t). During the year, Ahangarancement started to produce cement types PC 400 KD20 SSPC 400 D20 in 2014, of which it produced 84,610t and 47,922t respectively.

Molina: Venezuela to take cement output to 9Mt in 2015

Norm Sement has reached design capacity of its 2Mta Qizildas cement plant in Azerbaijan, and is confident on the outlook for the year ahead as it looks to increase market share and begin production of oil well cement, CEO Hasan Yalcinkaya told local news. Cement consumption in Spain reached 10.79Mt in 2014, largely stable when compared to the 10.74Mt recorded in 2013, latest figures released by domestic cement association Oficemen show. BaselCement's full-year output rises 37% YoY

BaselCement produced 2Mt of cement and clinker in 2014, an increase of 37 per cent YoY, the Russia-based company said in a statement. Volumes at the Serebryansky Cement plant in Ryazan Oblast increased by 95 per cent YoY to reach 1.02Mt, news agency Interfax reported citing BaselCement's press service. Shipments from the Achinsk Cement plant, based in Achinsk, rose by five per cent, with volumes exceeding 960,000t.

Morocco’s cement demand falls 5.4% in 2014

The fall in Morocco’s cement consumption declined by 5.4 per cent, following a 6.3 per cent reduction in 2013, according to the Moroccan Economics and Finance Ministry (DEPF). The positive trend is attributed to good sales in March, August, October and December 2014, when sales advanced 8.2, 26.5, 1.4 and 0.6 per cent, respectively.
