Kenya’s National Bureau of Statistics Data shows cement production stood at 5.88Mt in 2014, up 16.27 per cent from the 5.05Mt recorded a year earlier. Egypt prices stable on surplus supply

Producers in Egypt have decided to keep cement prices stable for the fifth-consecutive month, Minister of Supply, Khaled Hanafy, announced on Sunday. The price stability is due to surplus supply, Daily News Egypt quoted Medhat Staphanos, head of cement companies at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FDI) as saying. TPCC targets 1.5Mta output in 2015

Tanzania Portland Cement (TPCC), part of the HeidelbergCement Group, said that it its production targets will not be deterred by the ongoing “illegal importation” of cement into the east African country. Ahangarancement produces 400,500t of cement in 1Q, Uzbekistan

Ahangarancement JSC, part of the Eurocement Group, produced 400,500t of cement in the first quarter of 2015, according to data released by its parent company. In the reporting period, the plant produced 242,489t of clinker. Shipments over the Jan-March 2015 period reached 388,397t, exceeding the target figure by 11 per cent.

Peru cement sales down 1%, exports up 50% in March

Peru’s cement dispatches fell one per cent YoY to 806,000t in March as public spending was down and rains affected the construction industry, according to cement association Asocem. Regional and municipal governments saw their spending cut by 30 and 61 per cent, respectively. Output in the country’s cement plants increased two per cent to 861,000t when compared with March 2014. Domestic deliveries by the Swiss cement industry fell 16 per cent in 1Q15 as the construction industry experiences a cooldown, according to cement association Cemsuisse. Dispatches fell from 980,721t in 1Q14 to 823,375t in 1Q15.

Russia: Gornozavodsktsement to raise output

Gornozavodsktsement, based in the Volga region of Russia, plans to produce 1.55Mt of cement worth RUB4.49bn (EUR74.01m) in 2015). The company, which has a capacity of 2.2Mta, produced 1.578Mt in 2014 (+3 per cent against 2013). Revenue amounted to RUB4.472bn (+3.5 per cent). Net profit totalled RUB941m against RUB 838m in 2013.

US market picks up 12% YoY in January 2015

US market demand reached 5,355,378t, representing a 12.1 per cent increase on January 2014, according to preliminary figures by the US Geological Survey. Shipments of Portland and blended cement by US producers reached 4,859,373t in January 2015. Clinker production stood at 5,407,342t. In addition, the country imported some 496,005t of cement. Exports by US producers totalled 51,037t, down 9.5 per cent YoY.
