Senegal: domestic market contracts, exports jump

Senegalese cement producers increased their output by 4.4 per cent in the first four months of 2015 when compared with the same period of 2014, according to the country’s planning and economic study department. Production went up from 1,752,000t to 1,829,400t. Domestic sales fell 6.4 per cent from 1,123,000t in 4M14 to 1,051,500t in January-April 2014. However, exports jumped 22.1 per cent from 656,500t to 801,500t in the same period.

Vietnam expected first-half output up 10.5%

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 32.1Mt of cement in the first half of this year, up 10.5 per cent  from a year ago, the government-run General Statistics Office said. In June alone, production totalled 6Mt, up 26.8 per cent YoY. In the first five months, Vietnam has churned out 26.1Mt of cement, compared to the earlier estimated 26.6Mt, according to the office’s revised figure. Colombia: market expands 2.7% in May 2015

Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 2.7 per cent YoY to 1.062Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. The increase is primarily the result of an 8.7 per cent rise in the construction and contractors segment, which expanded by 8.7 per cent. The largest increases, on a departmental basis, were noted in Nariño (+69.2 per cent), Bolivar (+16.3 per cent), Magdalena (+19.1 per cent) and Cesar (+18.4 per cent). Vicem monthly dispatches advance 10% YoY

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, said its cement and clinker sales in May advanced 10 per cent YoY to 2.01Mt.  Of the total, 1.84Mt of cement and clinker were sold in domestic market while 162,000t were exported. Tunisian cement demand falls 6.5% in 4M15

In the first four months of 2015, the Tunisian cement marked contracted by 6.5 per cent YoY to 2.4Mt, according to the latest data revealed by Taoufik Khardani, deputy director of building materials industries at the country’s Ministry of Industry. However, exports were up by 28 per cent from 461,000t to 590,000t. Tunisia’s cement producers manufactured 2.98Mt of cement, down 5.6 per cent on 4M14, when 3.16Mt of cement was produced.

Polish cement production up 2.9 per cent YoY

Cement production in Poland increased by 2.9 per cent YoY to 1.62Mt in May, according to the country's cement association, SPC. Year-to-date production increased by 1.5 per cent YoY to 5.64Mt.

Argentinian cement deliveries up 8.3% YoY in May

In May 2015 Argentina’s cement plants shipped 1,001,540t of cement (including exports), representing a five per cent drop compared to last April, but up 7.8 per cent YoY, according to the Argentinian cement producers' association, AFCP. The domestic market expanded by 8.3 per cent YoY as 996,149t were delivered within the country’s borders. When compared with the previous month, a 4.7 per cent fall was noted.

Vietnam rises 9% in first five months

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 26.6Mt of cement during January-May 2015, up nine per cent from a year ago,  the government-run General Statistics Office said. In May alone, output amounted to 6.3Mt. During the five month period Vietnam produced 20.3Mt of cement, compared to an earlier estimate of 19.9Mt, according to the office’s revised figure. Peru cement market contracts 7% in April 2015

Peru’s cement deliveries fell 7.1 per cent YoY to 800,000t in April 2015 due to lower government spending and climate factors, according to Asocem, the Peruvian cement association.
