Colombia’s cement market expands 7% in Oct 2015

Colombian cement consumption rose seven per cent to 1,161,601t in October, according to the latest figures by DANE, the country’s statistics office. Production increased 12.8 per cent YoY from 1,072,942t in October 2014 to 1,210,370t in October 2015. In the Jan-Oct period, domestic cement consumption increased 6.9 per cent to 10.632Mt. Output during the first 10 months has advanced 6.4 per cent to 10.839Mt.

Peru: market shows signs of monthly pick-up

The Peruvian cement market continues to show signs of recovery as market contraction is decelerating in October, according to Asocem, Peru’s cement producers’ association. Domestic sales fell 0.5 per cent YoY to 923,000t from 928,000t in October 2015 while the decrease in October 2014 was one per cent. Exports fell from 30,000t to 26,000t. Morocco: September 2015 sales drop 21%

The Moroccan cement market contracted by 21 per cent YoY in September as sales fell to 1,029,736t. As a result, total cement sales for the year to date reached 10,508,851t, down 1.4 per cent YoY. Puerto Rican cement sales down 14.4% YoY in Oct

Cement sales in Puerto Rico fell to 1085m bags in October, representing a 14.4 per cent YoY fall, the largest in the past nine months. The reduction has been attributed to a contraction in housing construction and a lack of government resources invested in public works. Domestic cement production decreased 22.5 per cent to 872m of bags. In 2014, production fell 1.9 per cent following two years of increases.

Poland: October output and dispatches dip

Cement production in Poland decreased by 2.4 per cent YoY to 1.55Mt in October, while sales fell six per cent to 1.55Mt, Poland's Cement Producer Association said in a statement. Year-to-date production grew 0.9 per cent YoY to 13.44Mt. Meanwhile sales rose 0.9 per cent to 13.71Mt over the same time frame.

Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) reported an 18 per cent decrease in revenues for the third quarter of the year versus the same period in 2014 and 12 per cent for the first nine months. Vietnam output reaches 54.8Mt in first 10 months

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 54.8Mt of cement in the first 10 months of this year, up 10.4 per cent from a year ago, the government-run General Statistics Office said. The figures include an output of 6.1Mt in October, an increase 10.8 per cent. In the first nine months, the country’s cement production hit 48.7Mt, according to the revised figure.
