Vietnam August production rises 8.32%

Vietnam cement production in August climbed to 4.9Mt, an 8.32 per cent increase compared to the same period of last year, the General Statistics Office has said. Compared to July 2013, last month’s output rose by 6.52 per cent on a MoM basis. The office revised down production in July to 4.6Mt from a previous estimate of 5.1Mt. Substantial rises in Russian cement production and consumption have been achieved in 1H13. SMPro analysts state that Russian cement producers achieved an output of 7.1Mt of cement in June, the highest monthly production in 2013. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in May 2013 were about 7.77Mt, up by nearly three per cent YoY, according to the latest statistics from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Iran’s cement output in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning 21 March 2013) increased by five per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. The cement output of Russia’s Eurocement Group increased by five per cent to 11.5Mt during January to June 2013, the company said in a statement.
