Argentine cement market contracts 3.5 per cent in 2014

In December 2014, Argentina’s cement demand fell 10.4 per cent MoM and 2.5 per cent YoY to 892,313t, according to the latest data from AFCP, the Argentine cement association. The country’s cement producers supplied 905,306t of cement, including exports, registering a MoM drop of 10.4 per cent and 2.4 per cent YoY. Semen Baturaja on course to meet 2016 production target, Indonesia

PT Semen Baturaja is on course to achieve its production target of 3.6Mt in 2016 to help meet increasing demand in South Sumatra and neighbouring regions. Cuba: Nuevitas fulfils 2014 production plan

The 26 July cement works in Nuevitas, Cuba, completed its 2014 production plan with over 129,000t. In 2015 it is expected that the plant will deliver product for key construction projects in the province of Camagüey and further afield places such as Ciego de Ávila, las Tunas, Holguín y Granma.

SibCem unit sees full-year output ahead, Russia

Output at Krasnoyarsk Cement, part of Siberian Cement (SibCem), is expected to have edged ahead by 1.32 per cent YoY to 922,000t in 2014 versus the 910,000t produced a year earlier. Krasnoyarsk Cement has been undertaking a modernisation programme to increase capacity and enhance environmental performance. At the heart of the project is the launch of a new dry-process line to double capacity at the factory. 

Peru: November dispatches up 3.6%

Peru’s November cement dispatches remained stable MoM at 928,981t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, YoY figures show a 3.6 per cent rise. Argentina’s cement consumption falls 4.7 per cent MoM

In November, Argentina’s cement market contracted by 9.4 per cent MoM and 4.7 per cent YoY as 997,440t of cement were sold, according to the country's cement association, AFCP. The country’s cement producers delivered 1,011,082t, including exports and as such saw their sales volumes drop 9.3 per cent MoM. When compared with November 2013, dispatches fell by 4.8 per cent.

Vietnam monthly cement production up 6.7% YoY

Vietnam produced 5.6Mt of cement in November, up 5.7 per cent from October and 6.7 per cent from a year ago, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the first 11 months of this year, the country’s cement output rose 5.3 per cent YoY to 54Mt, the office noted in its monthly report. The GSO has also revised down the country’s cement output in October to 5.3Mt from the earlier estimated figure of 5.2Mt.
