Association warns of industry losses through exports, Vietnam

UltraTech Cement said that the company’s total production for March 2013 was 4Mt. Dispatches were 4.01Mt, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 12.4Mt in the first quarter of 2013, representing a rise of 2.1 per cent YoY, the latest data from the General Statistics Office (GSO) shows. Iran reports strong export gains in first 11 months

Cementitious exports from Iran have risen by 35 per cent in value terms during the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar (beginning 20 March 2012), to reach a total of US$822m. Burundi Cement Co doubles production, eyes capacity expansion

Burundi Cement Co (BUCECO), the central African country’s sole supplier, has doubled production and profits in its first two years of operation and is considering doubling capacity, the company has said in a statement. Lafarge and the Zimbabwe government have agreed on Lafarge reducing its shareholding in the Zimbabwean cement manufacturer to 49 per cent. “We have agreed with the relevant authorities on the indigenisation modalities to bring down foreign shareholding to 49 per cent, in line with the indigenisation and economic empowerment [policy].
