Redecam commissions Bamburi Cement baghouse

Redecam has commissioned a new bag filter at Bamburi Cement  ( Holcim Group ), Mombasa , Kenya. The project required a turnkey solution to convert the main kiln and electrostatic precipitator for a new baghouse. The project had been scheduled for 2020 but had been delayed because of COVID-19. There were no loss-in-time accidents.

Bamburi Cement Group reported a pre-tax profit of KES2.2bn (US$19m) in 2021, representing a 22.3 per cent YoY increase from KES1.8bn in 2020. Bamburi Cement to raise prices as costs escalate

Kenya-based Bamburi Cement ( Holcim ) plans to increase prices of its products by 2-10 per cent as of 10 March 2022. The company attributed the price rise to higher raw material costs. To sustain its operations, Bamburi will be raising prices of products marketed under its Nguvu, Tembo and Fundi brands, particularly from the company’s Nairobi, Mombasa, Limuru and Sagana depots. The price of a 50kg bag of Bamburi Cement retails between KES600 (US$5.25) and KES770.

Bamburi Cement orders two solar power plants

Bamburi Cement PLC  (Holcim group) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Momnai Energy Ltd to set up two solar plants adjacent to the company's Mombasa cement plant and Nairobi grinding plant in Kenya. Kenya's Bamburi Cement has recorded a 21 per cent YoY growth in turnover to KES19.6bn (US$178.45m) for the first half of 2021, compared with KES16.2bn in the 1H20. Kenya’s Bamburi Cement has announced a 15 per cent YoY decline in turnover to KES16.23bn (US$150m) for the first half of 2020, against KES18.66bn in the 1H19. However, the company saw a surge in profit before tax to KES213m from KES23m in January-June 2019.

Bamburi Cement (LafargeHoldim group) has donated KES15.6m (US$145,600) in the fight against coronavirus to the Kenyan government's COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
