Carthage Cement sees 39% hike in 9M revenue

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement saw its revenue in the 9M21 jump by 39 per cent YoY to TND239.2m (US$85.4m), according to ilBoursa. The company has attributed the increase to a surge of cement and clinker exports, which advanced from TND2.2m to TND32.9m. Carthage Cement lowers cement price

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement announced it will lower its wholesale prices for cement to TND150 (US$53.81) per 30t truck for two months. The decision will come into effect from 13 September 2021. The company said the step follows the advice of the National Chamber of Cement Producers after meeting with senior officials from the Ministries of Trade and Industry.

Carthage Cement posts 61% rise in turnover

Tunisia’s Carthage Cement has posted a 61 per cent YoY rise in turnover to TND163.8m (US$59.09m) for the first half of 2021, against TND102m in the same period of last year. Clinker production increased 99 per cent to 829,000t and cement production was also up 48 per cent to 612,000t in the second quarter of 2021. Local market turnover in the 2Q21 advanced 69 per cent YoY to TND123m. Revenue from cement exports reached TND17m during the 1H21, up from TND0.7m in the year-ago period.

Tunisia-based Carthage Cement has reported a 22 per cent rise in its revenues in the fourth quarter of 2020. Domestic sales were up 19 per cent YoY. Tunisia-based Carthage Cement reported a less severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its turnover in the third quarter of 2020. The company’s turnover fell by six per cent to TND172m (US$63m) from TND183m in the 3Q19. In the 2Q20 turnover had fallen by 16 per cent due to the pandemic. Carthage Cement posted a net profit of TND3.3m (US$1.2m) as of 31 July 2020, despite at two-month shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The stoppage led the company to lose nearly TND28.6m, according to company CEO, Brahim Sanaa. Tunisia-based Carthage Cement has seen its revenues fall 16 per cent to TND102m (US$37m) in the 1H20 due to the stoppage of its operations between 28 March and 28 April 2020. Carthage Cement begins exporting cement to Italy

Tunisia’s Carthage Cement launched its first export shipment of 4100t of EC-certified Portland cement to Italy last Friday. The dispatch is reportedly part of a larger contract to supply 250,000t of cement and clinker to Europe. "Our company has got a certification of the products in compliance with the requirements of the European standards, which has helped us be the first to enter the European market and we intend to remain there," indicated Brahim Sanaa, CEO, Carthage Cement.
