Colombia’s cement dispatches rose 10.2 per cent YoY in June to 1.0121Mt as building companies and contractors increased their demand by 25.8 per cent. Cement production reached 1.0292Mt, up 4.9 per cent when compared with June 2014. In the first half of 2015 the Colombian cement market expanded by 6.6 per cent YoY to 6.0674Mt. Cementos Argos begins to pay 2014 dividends

Colombian cement company Cementos Argos has started paying shareholder dividends corresponding to its 2014 to profits. Common stock shareholders will receive COP44.5/share. Those with preferential shares will receive COP57.75/share. Before 2015 ends, the firm will release dividend payments of COP253.30bn (US$96.06m), from a profit of of COP291.8bn achieved in 2014. Colombia: market expands 2.7% in May 2015

Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 2.7 per cent YoY to 1.062Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. The increase is primarily the result of an 8.7 per cent rise in the construction and contractors segment, which expanded by 8.7 per cent. Cementos Argos’ 1Q15 results have revealed a 27 per cent jump in revenue to COP1.7trn (US$630m), driven by growth in trade to the US. Medcem to invest in 3Mta works in north Colombia

Turkish cement producer Medcem plans to built a 3Mta works in the north of Colombia, according to local press reports. In April 2015 there was a 4.4 per cent YoY rise in cement dispatches in Colombia. Some 0.999Mt of grey cement reached domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the national statistics service, DANE. Cemex Latin American Holdings' turnover declined by 16.3 per cent in first quarter of the year to US$353.8m and EBITDA fell by 20.3 per cent to US$112.4m. Cemex is bringing forward the expansion of Caracolito plant in Colombia, the corporate affairs vice-president of the company’s Mexican division has said. Colombia saw a 6.1 per cent YoY rise in cement dispatches in February as 985,300t of the product were delivered, according to DANE, the national statistics office. The largest increases were experienced in Nariño (+52.1 per cent), Bolívar (+37 per cent), Antioquia (+17 per cent) and Bogotá (7.7 per cent).
