In a preliminary investigation, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found that six cement companies have formed a cartel. Although this enquiry focussed on the northeast region it will widen to other locations, reports the Business Standard. Prism Cement posts increase in net profits

Prism Cement has posted its results for the quarter ended 31 December 2017. The company reached a net profit of INR148.5m (US$2.31m), compared to a loss of INR470m in the year-ago period. The total net sales of the company advanced to INR12.96bn from INR12.34bn, according to Reuters.

Mangalam records 8% revenue increase

India-based Mangalam Cement has submitted its results for the quarter ending December 2017, which feature a 46 per cent YoY decrease in net profit to INR27m (US$420,126) from INR58.5m. However, revenue has increased eight per cent to INR2.92bn from INR2.7bn of the year-ago period. The company has also received approval to construct a 11MW waste heat recovery unit at its plant in Morak, Rajasthan, according to Reuters.

Birla Corp reported a consolidated net loss of INR-218.4m (US$-3.4m) for the quarter ended 31 December 2017, when compared to INR-412.9m in the equivalent period a year ago. Ramco Cements has seen its 3QFY17-18 net profit dragged down on the back of lacklustre demand in its core market of Tamil Nadu, India. The Tiruchi City Municipal Corporation (TCMC) has set an agreement with an environmental organisation to supply alternative fuel (AF) processed from fresh dry waste to UltraTech’s Ariyalur facility.
