Peru’s cement market remained largely stable in May with consumption edging up by 0.6 per cent YoY to 0.778Mt and by 2.5 per cent from 0.759Mt the previous month, according to the latest data by Asocem, the country’s cement association. Peruvian cement producer Unacem reported a 53 per cent fall in net profit to PEN157m in the first quarter of 2018. Unacem’s domestic dispatches decreased 0.6 per cent YoY to 1.199Mt. However, revenues increased by 1.1 per cent YoY due to a higher price realisation. Peru’s cement market expanded by 13.5 per cent YoY in April 2018 as cement deliveries reached 0.817Mt, according to the latest data from the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cementos Pacasmayo announces 13% revenue increase in 1Q18

Cementos Pacasmayo SAA has announced a 12.8 per cent YoY increase in revenue in the first quarter of the year, rising to PEN315.3m (US$97.58m) from PEN279.5m. The positive result has been partially attributed to a 7.8 per cent increase in sales volume of cement, concrete and blocks. The company also recorded a 37.3 per cent surge in net income to PEN29.8m. Peru’s cement consumption rose 1.9 per cent YoY to 816,000t and one per cent MoM from 824,000t in February 2018, according to the national cement association, Asocem. Peruvian cement producer Unacem has purchased, via its Unión de Concreteras (Unicon) subsidiary, a 100 per cent stake in Hormigones Independencia, part of the Chilean Hurtado Vicuña group. Peruvian cement producer Inversiones en Cemento (Invercem) plans the construction of cement plants in Pisco and Ayacucho, according to its founder Victor de La Torre. Peru's cement consumption expanded five per cent to 0.861Mt in January 2018 when compared with the previous year, but fell eight per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Peru's Cementos Pacasmayo has announced its consolidated results for the fourth quarter and full-year period ended 31 December 2017. The sales volume of cement, concrete and blocks increased 7.3 per cent YoY in the 4Q17, attributed to growth in the self-construction market and an uptick in public sector spending.
