Cement sales in Puerto Rico reached 66,941t in March 2021, according to the Puerto Rican Institute of Statistics. This represents a 15.9 per cent MoM increase and the highest since June 2020. When compared with March 2020, sales nearly tripled. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico slipped two per cent YoY to 6.7Mt in January 2021, said the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement sales in Puerto Rico advanced 26.2 per cent in February, according the Puerto Rican statistics agency. In February 1.36m bags of 94lb, or 57,987t were sold. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico increased 13 per cent YoY to 7.5Mt in December 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Puerto Rican cement sales up 41% in January

Puerto Rican cement sales surged 41 per cent YoY to 51,164t in January 2021, according to Sin Comillas. Cement sales in the country have been rising sharply for nine months. In 2020 deliveries advanced 2.8 per cent to 588,400t when compared with 2019. However, cement output from domestic cement plants dropped 33.2 per cent to 23,493t in January – the sixth-consecutive fall. In 2020 production fell 14.6 per cent YoY.

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 41 per cent YoY to 60,076t in December when compared with December 2019 when market offtake reached 42,594t, according to Puerto Rican Development Bank. Cement sales in Puerto Rico edged up two per cent in November 2020 to 46,901t from 46,048t in November 2019, according to Sin Comillas. The latest data indicates a levelling off of market expansion, which had seen double-digit growth between June and September. Local cement production declined by 60.7 per cent to 18m377t in November 2020, representing the fourth-consecutive drop.
