Bolivia’s cement sales increased by 5.6 per cent YoY to 3.1Mt in the January-October 2022 period, according to the country’s National Institute of Statistics (INE). Domestic cement sales in Brazil saw a 6.3 per cent decline to 4.467Mt in December 2022 when compared with December 2021 when sales reached 4.766Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Argentina’s cement market expands 7% in 2022

Cement demand in Argentina fell by nine per cent to 932,661t in December 2022 from 1,144,123t in December 2021, reports the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with the previous month, the December volume sold dropped 18.5 per cent. All cement was supplied by domestic producers and there were no imports. Unacem acquires Termochilca

Peruvian cement and concrete producer Unacem , through its subsidiary Celepsa, has bought electricity generator Termochilca. Termochilca operates the US$300m, 300MW combined cycle thermal power plant in Santo Domingo, Chilca. The completion of the acquisition is subject to the receipt and acceptance of certain conditions and signature of legal documents. Cement demand in Chile has dropped by 15 per cent to 348,665t in October 2022, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In October 2021 cement demand reached 410,424t. In the January-October period, demand fell by 12 per cent YoY to 3,190,518t from 3,624,776t in the 10M21.
