INC raises cement price

Paraguayan cement producer INC has increased the price of a bag of cement by PYG2500 (US$0.42). The company is now selling cement for PYG39,800/bag. The company has attributed the need to increase cement prices due to higher transport costs. The low water level in the Paraguay river has led to the need to use trucks to move raw materials and has also resulted in cement shortages in the country. INC is aiming to maintain supply at 35,000-40,000 bags/day.

Peru's cement producers see 10% rise in local dispatches in September

Cement consumption in Peru remained largely stable at 1.018Mt in September 2020 when compared with August 2020 and increased 10 per cent YoY. Of this total, local dispatches accounted for 1.001Mt, representing a 7.3 per cent rise MoM and a 10.4 per cent increase YoY, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Brazil sees robust cement consumption growth in September

Cement sales in Brazil saw a 21.4 per cent hike to 5.8Mt in September 2020  when compared with September 2019, according to SNIC, the country’s cement association. Sales per working day were 250,500t, up 18.5 per cent YoY and 2.5 per cent MoM. The key market of the southeast showed a 17 per cent YoY uptake in sales to 2.67Mt while in the northeast, the country’s second-largest cement market, sales were up 30.1 per cent to 1.229Mt. Cement demand in Argentina increased 10.5 per cent to 1,037,499t in September 2020, as shown by the monthly report of the country’s cement association, AFCP. Cement dispatches in Colombia slipped 4.3 per cent to 1.052Mt in August 2020 from 1.099Mt in August 2019, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Cement dispatches in Peru slipped 0.1 per cent YoY but increased 12.9 per cent MoM to 0.933Mt in August 2020, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement sales in Brazil continued to rise in August with a 13.6 per cent YoY increase to 5.7Mt, reported the country’s cement association, SNIC. Per working day, sales reached 244,400t, representing a YoY increased of 18.5 per cent and 3.7 per cent MoM. The Argentine cement market contracted 12.5 per cent YoY to 917,297t in August 2020, according to the latest data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association.
