Vietnam has reported a double-digit rise in sales over the first 11 months of the year, with exports up 63 per cent YoY. A total of 55.2Mt of cement was sold over Jan-Nov 2013, up 13 per cent from a year earlier, Le Van Toi, director of the Building Material Department, said. Indonesian sales growth has slowed over the first nine months of this year despite hitting a monthly record in September. Data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) showed that domestic sales totalled 41.58Mt between Jan-September 2013, an increase of 5.3 per cent compared to 39.48Mt in the same period of last year. For the first six months of the year, Vietnam sales were 22.68Mt, according to latest data from the Ministry of Construction (MoC). The amount represents 46.8 per cent of the full-year target, the MoC added. Output stood at 24.7Mt, making up 44.1 per cent of its whole year target. Vietnam’s Building Materials Association has used the Ministry of Construction (MoC) to adjust the master plan for the cement industry for the 2011-20 period and has suggested a series of measures to ease the current surplus situation. Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) has reported a rise in overall cement and clinker sales for the first two months of the year but export volumes declined.
