Cement sales in Indonesia declined 0.4 per cent YoY in April to 4.52Mt, according to data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI). Vietnam is estimated to have produce 6Mt of cement in April, up seven per cent from March and 12.65 per cent from a year ago, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the four months to the end of April 2014, domestic cement output rose 7.6 per cent YoY to 19.4Mt, the office said in a monthly report. Siam City Cement Co (SCCC) reported a double-digit rise in earnings and sales during the first quarter of 2014, as higher cement prices and increased exports help offset declines in its domestic market of Thailand. Indonesian cement consumption slowed during the first quarter of this year despite a strong rebound in March sales, latest data by the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) shows. For the first three months of the year, demand rose by 3.7 per cent YoY to 14.08Mt compared to 13.58Mt in the comparative period of 2013.
