Indonesia cement sales jumped 37.4 per cent YoY to 4.7Mt in August 2014 on the back of higher demand from the property and infrastructure projects. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, produced 10.24Mt of cement in the first seven months of this year, rising 4.7 per cent from the same period a year earlier. Tasek Corp Bhd reported a 20.78 per cent rise in revenue for the second quarter, driven by higher demand for cement in its domestic market of Malaysia. Semen Indonesia has earmarked US$500m in capex next year in anticipation of an increase in infrastructure projects over the next five years, its president director has said. Vietnam cement production rises 6.5%

Vietnam produced 4.9Mt of cement in July, up 6.5 per cent from both June 2014 and from the year-ago period, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the first seven months, domestic output is likely to have increased by 4.6 per cent from a year ago to 33.6Mt. However, the GSO has revised down the country’s cement output in June to 4.6Mt from the earlier estimated figure of 5.4Mt.
