Boiler explosion kills two and injures 14 at UltraTech plant

A boiler explosion at the   UltraTech Cement   factory in the Jaggaihpet region of India has reportedly killed two workers and injured 14 others.   Of the injured, Avula Venkatesh and Paritala Arjun died while being treated, and a further three workers are said to be in critical condition according to NTR District Collector, Gummalla Srijana. Kenyan cement demand drops 13% in 4M24

Cement consumption in Kenya fell 12.7 per cent YoY to 1,949,900t in the 4M24 from 2,234,200t in the 4M23, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). Vietnam cement exports drop 10.8% in 1H24

Between 2019 and 2022, the average export value of cement and clinker ranged from US$1bn to US$1.3bn annually. However, in 2023, export earnings sharply declined due to falling prices. Peru-based Unacem Group has published its Corporate Roadmap to 2030, setting a carbon emissions target of 1500kg of CO 2 /t of cement by 2030 in all its operations, representing a reduction from 607kg, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. JK Cement has reported revenue from operations of INR109,180m (US$1308m) in FY2023-24 (ended 31 March 2024), up 17 per cent YoY.
